Walter the Unhappy Camper

This story begins with Walter, a young boy whose night is turned upside down when shadows decide to step out of their corners…

With this project, I wanted to depict the fear that we’ve all felt as youths, of monsters lurking in the shadows of the night. To illustrate this, I made use of the shape morph functionality of Adobe After Effects, effectively transforming perfectly ordinary objects into creatures of nightmare. Having but 25 seconds to tell a compelling story, I made sure that every motion, every colour, and every sound was precisely timed to perfectly portray Walter’s emotional turmoil.

I executed this project in its entirety, including the ideation, storyboarding, sketching, illustrations and animation.
